DescriptionThe Jetty River Lodge is beautifully situated on the banks of the mighty Umzimbuvu River, a mere 5 kilometers from the town of Port St Johns, is the ideal holiday retreat for jaded city slickers and nature-lovers alike. Nestled in park-like settings among century old peacan nut trees with manicured rolling lawns and gardens, perfect for a day lounging at the pool or a picnic with the family at the river bank.Birdwatches will love the variety of birdlife that regularly visit our trees and river front, African Fish Eagle, Egyptian Geese. Green Backed Herron, Cape Gannet, Crowned Hornbill to name a few. During the months of April and May one is assured of seeing the engangered Cape Green Parrot. Fishermen are treated with a variety of excellent fishing spots, both rock and surf, or you could simply walk down to the river bank. For the fishermen in search of an adventure, launch your boat off the property and take a scenic journey to the Umzimvubu river mouth or let us charter you a deep-sea trip to some of our unspoilt reefs. Once you land the fish of your dreams, cleaning it is a breeze with the cleaning station set up right next to the river. Port St Johns is a favorable fishing destination, especially during the months of May to August when the Sardine Run pushes by. The Wild Coast is well known for its dramatic landscape and Port St Johns is truly the ‘Jewel of the Wild Coast’. Our beautiful natural tropical forests and waterfalls accompanied with steep cliffs and rock formations are a feast for the eyes. Indulge in the scenery by hiking through the forest and along the beach, or jump in a caonoe and slow paddle upriver, however you go about it, be sure to take a camera as its guaranteed you will stumble upon something beautiful, something you wont soon want to forget. The Jetty River Lodge has been under new ownership since April 2009 and has since been completely refurbished with all the modern fittings, finishings and luxuries one would expect. Our kitchen boasts brand new fitted state of the art stainless steel fixtures which any restaurant would be proud of. Be sure to visit our newly built bar and enjoy a drink and a game of pool while watching the rugby or simply enjoy a relaxing cocktail on our patio and watch the sunset over the Umzimbuvu river. Both bed and breakfast as well as self-catering accommodation options are available and all the rooms have an ensuite bathroom. We do have 3 fishferman cottages on the property, each accommodating 2 people. The 3 fisherman cottages each have braai facilities and share an ablution block. Unfortunately we do not have camping or caravan facilities. A generator has been installed onsite ensuring our patrons never get caught in a black out. Rates
