 About Brighton Lodge.

Brighton Lodge was one of the first Guest Houses styled along the lines of a Boutique Hotel to open in Port Elizabeth 11 (eleven) years ago. Brighton Lodge opened with 4 (four) rooms, which developed into 6 (six) and once again expanded to its present status of 11 (eleven) rooms.
Within five kilometres of the Friendly City centre and just minutes away from the airport and all major shopping centres, Brighton Lodge offers the discerning traveller an elegant mix of a Grecian, Colonial and Victorian era with all the modern facilities you've come to expect.

Vision
The original owner identified a niche in the market for Upmarket Accommodation for Executives and Tourists.
When securing premises, it was considered to be important that the property be in an upmarket suburb and that it be a corner property, allowing for two separate entrances to the premises. It was also considered important that the premises have easy access to all facilities including the airport, freeway, shopping centres and beachfront

Accommodation

Each bedroom has been decorated to reflect a blend of Continental and African styles, from Victorian Old Cape,Out of Africa to Nautical. Rooms are en suite with television, telephone and fax facilities. All rooms have private entrances with lush gardens and water features. Breakfast is served in each room separately. Restaurants are closeby. Swimming pool. Laundry facilities available.  Credit cards welcome.

All suites are en-suite; Four of the suites have Full Bathrooms, and the remaining units have showers together with all other facilities.

All suites are designed with the elements of a home.

The Out of Africa Suite

The Décor of this suite is in the stylish, flamboyant "Lost City" style. The Suite has many artefacts all "Out Of" Africa, stretching from Egypt in the North to the Republic of South Africa in the South. Further features of the theme include a framed Antique Egyptian Comb, an Old Miners Lamp, Bushman Arrows, an Old African Map, Leather Camel Statuettes, an old African Telephone and a "His Masters Voice" Gramophone.

The Animalia Suites

The name Animalia is essentially expressive of certain Wild Animals found in Southern Africa. The "Animal Theme" is carried throughout the interior of the suite with Giraffe Statuettes and Animal paintings. Animal print fabric has been used throughout the suite. The rock-cladded private patio is an "extension" of the Kruger National Park. An exquisite feature of the patio is a Waterfall with a Rivulet, which flows beneath the decoratively positioned railway sleepers, where guests can enjoy their breakfast in an African atmosphere.

The Cottage Suite

The Cottage Suite is decorated using a mixture of Cane Furnishings and Classical Floral Fabrics en capturing a light cottage feel ambiance.

The Classic Country Suites

Exterior rock-cladded walls have been extended into the suite and are softened by the classical furnishings throughout the suite. This particular suite, because of its secure, warm and homely atmosphere, is a favourite with the Ladies!

La Rochelle Suite

The suite is named after a town on the Coast of France from where the De Villiers family emigrated in 1689 as part of the French Huguenots. The Suite is decorated in authentic "French Provincialé Style" and the associated colours are prevalent throughout the entire suite.

The Mauritian Suite

Decorated with an exquisite range of shells from Mauritius. A variety of fish ornaments and wall hangings and original paintings of Tropical fish completes the Mauritian theme.

The Nautical Suite

Furnished in typical Nautical fashion with Nautical artefacts and maps. The décor includes a replica "Titanic Bell" and "Titanic Life Ring" surrounded by Nautical Dark Wood Panelling, which complements the theme..

The Old Cape Suite

The suite is decorated using a combination of old Victorian and Cape Style artefacts and furnishings. A feature of the suite is the Original Cape Oil Painting of vineyards, by Internationally Renowned Artist, Michael Albertyn. An individually operated strip light illuminates this painting. Other Typical Cape Styled prints adorn the walls which are decorated with imported wallpaper. The Sanderson Curtaining "softens" and "enriches" the ambiance of the suite. The Old Cape Suite is a popular choice with Honeymoon Couples. The cobble paved patio completes the atmosphere of tranquillity and old style living. The garden is dominated by pre-historic cycad plants, standing as sentinels overlooking the array of Tropical Plants.

The Classic Roman Suites

A Roman Theme, bringing to the fore the Classical antiquity of times past. The suite has been decorated with a combination of Roman and Classical Features. The theme is carried through to the patio, which is adorned with Roman-styled pot containers and plaques, providing a Roman atmosphere.

The Settlers Suite

The Settlers Suite has a jacuzzi and is a favorite with the Honeymoon couples.
The suite is tastefully furnished with an "old style" four poster brass bed

The Victorian Suite

 The Victorian Suite is adorned with Victorian artefacts. Pictures of Queen Victoria as well as a portrait of the Royal Family adorn the wall. In the lounge is an old Victorian fireplace as well as a Victorian brass fire extinguisher. The Victorian Theme extends to the bathroom, and overhead is a Victorian pressed ceiling. A Victorian trouser press provides the finishing touch.

Cnr Brighton Drive & 5th Avenue (Entrance in 5th Avenue)Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth Directions from the airport: - Turn right into Alister Miller Road when you leave the Airport - this road takes you into La Roche Drive - Drive all the way down La Roche Drive and you will come to Beach Road. - Mac Donald's on your right and sea in front of you. Turn right and drive until you get to 5th Avenue - at 5th Avenue (Marine Hotel on the corner) turn right - you will see Brighton Lodge on the next corner - entrance in 5th Avenue.
